Since swapping a BMX for a R/C car with the words ‘Baja’ and ‘Mexico’ on the side, Pat has been chasing the dream of racing in and finishing a 1000 mile desert race down the Baja peninsula………..

Pat is a relentless force in off-road racing who has transformed a childhood passion for radio-controlled cars into a 30-year career fueled by grit, skill and resourcefulness. With two British Championships under his belt and a unique skill set that combines elite driving with the mechanical mastery to build and repair his own machines, Pat is chasing a “burning need” to conquer the ultimate challenge: the grueling 1000-mile run down the Baja peninsula in the NORRA Baja 1000. The team has been hand-building a Land Rover-based beast to take on this serpentine battle across rocks and desert sands—a feat that compares to racing from the top of Scotland to the bottom of England —and he has vowed to cross that finish line “one way or another”.
Pat has shown this determination time and time again and even though he has a small budget of his own savings his wide skill set allows him to carry out most things himself.
Team-X is revving up for this challenge with an epic three-year roadmap following the mostly successful testing of the car in Morocco in 2025. It kicks off with various UK shows in 2026 finishing with an entry in the Fenek 6 day rally raid in Morocco in September. Then, in 2027, following a final rebuild and check and after some more public appearances, the car will be shipped to USA to enter the NORRA 500 as a shake down – a 500 mile shakedown!
Then in May 2028 the 40 year+ odyssey culminates with the Norra Baja 1000 race. Pat believes the spectacle of an “English driver in a British car entering an American race” will generate massive publicity, offering partners a high-octane platform to showcase their brands through logos, testimonials, and action-packed media coverage.
He is inviting sponsors to fuel this adrenaline-filled adventure, offering them a chance to share in the glory and success of a team defined by an absolute commitment to finishing what they start.
